COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering and Project Management MSc is structured around a combination of core and optional modules designed to develop both technical expertise and managerial competence in civil engineering. In the first semester, core modules include Research and Professional Skills, Engineering within Planetary Capacity, Civil Engineering Project Management, and Advanced Engineering Research Study, providing students with a foundation in engineering principles, project planning, sustainability, and research methodologies. Semester 1 optional modules allow students to focus on specialised areas, such as Advanced Geotechnics, Innovations in Construction Materials and Technologies, and Climate Resilient Water Infrastructure Design, establishing the knowledge required for more advanced study in the second semester. In the second semester, core modules include the Regenerative Design Project, Managing Design and Construction, and continuation of Advanced Engineering Research Study, offering practical experience in project delivery, sustainable design, and applied research. Optional modules in this semester, which build on semester 1 prerequisites, include Advanced Concrete Design for Net-Zero, Sustainable Steel and Hybrid Structures, and Urban Stormwater Management, providing advanced training in sustainable construction, structural engineering, and water management. Together, the curriculum equips graduates with the skills to manage complex construction projects, implement sustainable engineering solutions, and take on leadership roles in the construction industry, combining technical expertise with project management and strategic decision-making capabilities.
