COURSE CURRICULUM

The Chemistry MSc combines core and optional modules to provide a thorough education in both theoretical and practical aspects of modern chemistry. Core modules include Research, Presentation and Professional Skills, Chemistry Projects, and a Chemistry Research Project, equipping students with essential skills in experimental design, laboratory techniques, data analysis, scientific communication, and independent research. These modules ensure that students develop the ability to conduct high-quality research, solve complex chemical problems, and present their findings effectively to both academic and professional audiences. In addition to the core curriculum, students select four optional modules totaling 60 credits, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest. Optional modules include Current Topics in Catalysis and Asymmetric Synthesis, Current Topics in Advanced Materials Chemistry, Methods and Models in Theoretical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design, Current Topics in Chemistry of Light, Current Topics in Industrial Catalysis, and Technologies for Sustainability. These modules provide opportunities to explore specialised and cutting-edge areas of chemistry, including catalysis, materials, theoretical modelling, drug discovery, photochemistry, industrial processes, and sustainable technologies. Together, the core and optional modules prepare graduates for careers in research, industry, pharmaceuticals, materials science, and related fields, equipping them with the expertise and practical experience needed to succeed in a variety of chemical science roles.
