COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Finance and Economics MSc is structured around a combination of core and optional modules designed to provide a thorough grounding in both economic theory and financial practice. In the first semester, core modules include Econometric Methods, Business Economics, and Corporate Finance, equipping students with the quantitative, analytical, and financial skills necessary to analyse business and economic problems. These modules develop proficiency in economic modelling, statistical analysis, and understanding corporate financial decision-making. In the second semester, core modules consist of Industrial Organisation and Theory of Banking, offering insights into market structures, competition, and the functioning of financial institutions. Students also choose one module from Applied Econometrics: Cross-sectional and Panel Data Approaches or Applied Econometrics: Time Series Approaches, providing specialised training in advanced econometric techniques for analysing complex data. Additional optional modules allow students to tailor their studies according to their interests, with choices including Applied Econometrics, Derivatives, Options and Securities, Public Economics, and International Money and Finance. Together, these modules integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing students to interpret economic and financial data, evaluate market dynamics, and make informed business and policy decisions. The MSc equips graduates with the skills and expertise required for careers in finance, consulting, economic analysis, banking, and other roles where advanced economic and financial understanding is essential.
