COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biological and Bioprocess Engineering MSc combines a structured set of core and optional modules to provide a thorough education in the principles and applications of biological engineering and biomanufacturing. Core modules include Biopharmaceutical Engineering, Bioresources and Bioprocessing, Advanced Bioprocess Design Project, Advanced Biochemical Engineering, Applied Biological and Bioprocess Engineering, and a Research Project, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for designing and optimizing biological processes. These modules cover critical topics such as process development, bioprocess scale-up, biochemical engineering principles, and the production of biopharmaceuticals, providing hands-on experience in laboratory and industrial-relevant techniques. In addition to the core modules, students select optional modules tailored to their specific interests, examples of which include Stem Cell Biology, Tissue Engineering Approaches to Failure in Living Systems, Synthetic Biology, and Biopharmaceutical and Vaccine Manufacturing. These optional modules allow students to explore emerging areas of biotechnology, including regenerative medicine, synthetic biology, and advanced biomanufacturing techniques. By integrating rigorous scientific training with applied research experience, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries, research and development, process engineering, and related fields, equipping them with the expertise to innovate and contribute effectively to the evolving bioindustry.
