COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biodiversity and Conservation MSc offers a comprehensive combination of core and optional modules designed to equip students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge in conservation science. Core modules include Advanced Data Handling and Analysis, Advanced Scientific Skills, Field Biology, Literature Review, and an Individual Research Project, providing students with a solid foundation in research methods, experimental design, ecological data analysis, and hands-on fieldwork. These modules ensure that students gain the expertise needed to investigate biodiversity patterns, assess conservation strategies, and conduct independent scientific research. In addition to the core curriculum, students select four optional modules totaling 60 credits, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest. Optional modules include Global Conservation Issues, Agricultural Ecology in a Changing World, Biodiversity in Space and Time, Global Sustainability, and Research Methods in Avian Biodiversity and Conservation. These modules provide opportunities to explore specialized topics such as global environmental challenges, sustainable land use, species conservation over time and space, and practical approaches to studying bird populations. By combining rigorous training in scientific methods with focused study in key ecological and conservation themes, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in research, conservation management, policy development, and applied environmental work, equipping them to address complex biodiversity and sustainability challenges.
