COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Computer Science MSc combines core computer science knowledge with opportunities to specialise in advanced topics, preparing students for careers in research, industry, and technology innovation. Core modules provide a solid foundation in software development, programming, and professional practice, including Object Oriented Programming and Software Design, Team Software Project, Professional Issues, and a Dissertation Project. These modules develop skills in algorithm design, software engineering, collaborative project management, and independent research, enabling students to tackle complex computing challenges. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals, with examples including Machine Learning and Adaptive Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Speech Technology, 3D Computer Graphics, Modelling and Simulation of Natural Systems, Modelling of Concurrent Systems, Software Reengineering, and Network Performance Analysis. Students can also explore advanced topics in parallel computing, safety-critical systems, and software and hardware verification.
