COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology and Education MA combines theoretical and practical approaches to examine key issues in contemporary education, with a strong emphasis on social justice and developmental understanding. The program includes four compulsory modules, two studied in the autumn semester and two in the spring semester, which provide a comprehensive grounding in psychological and educational theory. Critical Perspectives on Education and Social Justice in a Changing World encourages students to evaluate educational inequalities and consider strategies for promoting fairness and inclusivity. Developmental Psychology explores human development across the lifespan, helping students understand the cognitive, social, and emotional processes that influence learning. Critical Psychology and Education challenges traditional assumptions in the field, promoting a reflective and questioning approach to educational practice, while Interdisciplinary Approaches to Knowledge and Educational Research equips students with methodological and analytical skills needed to conduct rigorous research across educational contexts. From April to August, students undertake an independent research project, applying their learning to investigate a topic of personal or professional interest. This research component develops expertise in study design, data collection, and analysis, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The program prepares graduates for careers in education, policy, research, or related fields, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address complex educational challenges effectively.
