COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Management MA equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to lead and innovate within the global music and creative industries. The program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application, preparing graduates to navigate the evolving landscape of music business and cultural management. Core modules cover key areas such as principles of music industry leadership, strategies for funding music and the arts, and strategic design thinking for music consultancy, ensuring students develop expertise in management, strategic planning, and creative problem-solving. The Advanced Independent Project allows students to undertake an in-depth, self-directed study, applying their learning to real-world challenges and demonstrating professional competence. Optional modules offer opportunities to tailor the degree to individual interests, with autumn choices including innovation and futures thinking, accounting and financial management, critical theories in the creative and cultural industries, cultural marketing, and management and organisational theory. Spring options include digital cultural and creative industries, managing festivals, events and creative performances, cultural and creative entrepreneurship, and branding. By combining leadership, strategy, and hands-on project experience, this MA prepares students for a range of careers in music management, artist development, event and festival management, creative consultancy, and other roles within the cultural and creative sectors, equipping them to make impactful contributions in dynamic global environments.
