COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in International Relations offers students a comprehensive understanding of global politics and the forces shaping international affairs today. Core modules such as Understanding Politics, Debating International Relations, and Research and Dissertation Preparation provide a solid foundation in political theory, critical analysis, and research methods, preparing students to investigate complex international issues through their Politics Dissertation. Optional modules allow students to specialise according to their interests, covering a wide range of topics including contemporary global security, policy-making, development and the state, democratic governance, global health, and the political economy of environmental change. Other options explore capitalism and crisis, freedom, terrorism and political violence, and the governance and politics of the European Union. Through these modules, students develop analytical skills to assess the causes and consequences of conflicts, power dynamics, and international decision-making processes. The program combines theoretical insights with practical research experience, enabling students to critically evaluate policies and strategies in a global context. Graduates leave equipped to pursue careers in diplomacy, international organisations, government, non-governmental organisations, policy analysis, and consultancy, with the skills to engage thoughtfully and effectively in international political, social, and economic challenges.
