COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in International Public and Political Communication provides students with the knowledge and skills to analyse, interpret, and influence public and political communication on a global scale. Core modules such as Visual Political Communication, Media, Society and International Crises, and Introduction to Political Communication equip students with a strong theoretical foundation, exploring how media shapes public perception, political narratives, and responses to crises. Students also gain practical experience in Communicating with the Media, developing strategies for effectively conveying messages across different platforms and audiences. Research Methods and the Dissertation module enable students to design and conduct independent research, critically evaluating communication practices and their impact in diverse international contexts. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, covering topics such as transnational feminist media perspectives, the use and misuse of radio and digital technologies in conflict-affected areas, critical incidents in international journalism, the weaponisation of media, and conspiracy communication. By combining theoretical understanding with practical skills, the program prepares graduates for careers in media, public relations, political consultancy, international organisations, and advocacy, equipping them to navigate complex communication landscapes, design impactful campaigns, and address challenges related to misinformation, persuasion, and global media ethics.
