COURSE CURRICULUM

The Education MA is designed around a combination of core and optional modules that provide students with a strong foundation in educational theory, research, and practice. Core modules include Critical Perspectives on Education and Social Justice in a Changing World, which encourages students to critically examine how social, cultural, and political factors shape education and access to learning opportunities, and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Knowledge and Educational Research, which develops skills in conducting robust, evidence-based research across diverse educational contexts. The Research Project module allows students to design and implement an independent research study, applying theoretical knowledge and research methods to address real-world educational questions, while developing analytical, critical thinking, and professional skills. In addition to the core modules, students can choose from optional modules such as Developmental Psychology, which explores the cognitive, social, and emotional development of learners across the lifespan, and Critical Psychology and Education, which examines educational practices through alternative psychological and sociocultural perspectives. Together, these modules combine theoretical insight, research skills, and applied learning, preparing students to analyse educational challenges and develop informed solutions. Graduates are equipped for careers in teaching, educational leadership, policy development, consultancy, and research, as well as for further academic study, with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to educational practice and innovation.
