COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB in European and International Law is a four-year program designed to provide a thorough grounding in the Common Law of England and Wales while offering an in-depth understanding of European and international legal frameworks. In the first year, students study core subjects including introduction to law, criminal law and justice, constitutional law in the UK and EU, contract law, contemporary issues in law, and dispute resolution, establishing essential analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. The second year builds on this foundation with modules in land law, tort law, advanced EU law, foundations of international law, and the relationship between the individual and the state, while students can also choose an optional module to explore areas such as advanced criminal law, criminology, or comparative law. Following the second year, students spend a year abroad at a partner institution, gaining experience of alternative legal systems and developing a global perspective. In the fourth year, the focus is on advanced study of law, including equity and trusts, and advanced international law, alongside optional modules covering specialist areas such as international trade law, human rights, family law, intellectual property, and policing in a global context. Graduates emerge with a strong understanding of domestic, European, and international legal systems, equipped for careers in law, global organisations, or further professional training.
