COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB in Law and Criminology is a three-year program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both the legal system and criminological theory. In the first year, students build a foundation through core modules including introduction to law, criminal law and justice, constitutional law in the UK and EU, contract law, and introductory criminology and research skills. This combination equips students with essential analytical, research, and critical thinking skills while exploring the social context of crime and justice. In the second year, students advance their knowledge through core modules such as land law, tort law, responding to crime, and punishment and penal policy, alongside optional modules covering specialized areas like advanced EU law, international law, criminal process, and topics addressing race, gender, and crime. This stage emphasizes critical thinking and the application of legal and criminological principles to complex scenarios. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through advanced modules in equity and trusts and international law, while further optional modules allow deep exploration of subjects such as international human rights, immigration and asylum law, intellectual property, family law, policing, and global crime issues. Graduates of the program gain a strong analytical, practical, and interdisciplinary skill set, preparing them for careers in law, criminal justice, public policy, or further academic study.
