COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics BSc degree offers a structured and analytical study of economics with a strong quantitative focus. In the first year, students build a foundation in key economic principles through modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistical methods, mathematical techniques, and data analysis. They can also explore introductory finance, economic history, or economic thought, alongside the option to study a language. In the second year, the course deepens understanding of economic theory and data analysis with modules in intermediate microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and applied econometrics. Students also have the opportunity to study applied topics such as industrial organisation, finance, international trade, and policy analysis, further strengthening their technical and problem-solving skills. In the final year, students undertake a dissertation on a topic of personal interest, demonstrating their ability to apply quantitative methods to real-world economic problems. They can specialise through a range of optional modules that include areas like game theory, development economics, finance, and advanced mathematical approaches. The course provides rigorous training in both theory and practice, preparing graduates for careers requiring strong analytical and data skills, including roles in finance, consulting, research, and policymaking, or for postgraduate study in economics and related fields.
