COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics with Finance BSc degree provides a strong foundation in both economics and finance, combining theoretical understanding with quantitative and analytical skills. In the first year, students study core modules such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, mathematics, statistics, and data analysis, developing key skills for economic and financial modelling. The second year builds on these foundations with intermediate microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, while also introducing specialised topics such as the economics of financial institutions. Students learn to apply theoretical and statistical tools to real-world financial and economic issues, gaining a deeper understanding of markets, institutions, and economic policy. In the final year, students undertake a dissertation that allows them to explore a chosen topic in depth while also studying advanced finance and economic modules. Core topics include modern finance, and optional modules provide the opportunity to specialise in areas such as game theory, international trade, development economics, or advanced mathematical methods. By integrating economics and finance, this course prepares students for careers in banking, financial analysis, consulting, and economic policy, as well as postgraduate study. It equips graduates with the skills to interpret complex data, assess financial risk, and develop strategic solutions in the modern economic environment.
