COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science BSc degree offers a comprehensive education in computing, blending foundational theory with practical applications. In the first year, students develop essential skills in software engineering, Java programming, algorithms and data structures, systems and networks, and are introduced to artificial intelligence, building a solid base for more advanced study. The curriculum emphasizes both problem-solving and technical competence, preparing students to tackle complex computing challenges. In the second year, the program expands into programming language principles, databases, logic, cybersecurity, automata and computation, software development practices, and applied artificial intelligence. This allows students to deepen their theoretical knowledge while gaining practical experience in solving real-world problems. The final year focuses on independent research and practical application through a Dissertation Project, enabling students to investigate a topic of interest in depth. Alongside the dissertation, students can select from a wide range of optional modules to tailor their studies to specific interests, including machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, cryptography, software testing and analysis, and bioinspired computing. Through this combination of core learning and specialised options, graduates are well-prepared for careers in software development, artificial intelligence, IT consultancy, or advanced study and research in computer science.
