COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) BSc degree offers a comprehensive education in both core computer science and specialized AI topics. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with modules covering software engineering, Java programming, algorithms and data structures, systems and networks, and an introduction to artificial intelligence, alongside reflection on first-year learning. The second year deepens this knowledge through modules in programming language principles, cybersecurity, databases and logic, automata and computation, software development practices, and foundations and applications of AI. Practical and theoretical skills are developed throughout, preparing students for advanced study. In the third year, students focus on AI applications and research through a dissertation project and specialized modules, which may include machine learning, robotics, text and speech processing, computer vision, and modeling and simulation of natural systems. At least half of the optional third-year modules are dedicated to AI, allowing students to explore reinforcement learning, bioinspired computing, and other cutting-edge topics, while additional options can be taken from software engineering and theoretical computer science. Throughout the course, students gain both technical proficiency and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for careers in artificial intelligence, software development, robotics, data science, or further research in computing and AI technologies.
