COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering BEng is structured over three years to provide a strong foundation in engineering principles while developing practical skills in robotics and intelligent systems. In the first year, students focus on core modules such as Group Project and Engineering Skills, Engineering System Modelling and Analysis, Analysis Tools for Mechatronics, Computer Engineering and AI, Electric and Magnetic Circuits, and Analogue and Digital Electronics. These modules introduce essential technical knowledge and practical skills while fostering teamwork and problem-solving abilities. The second year builds on this foundation, emphasizing design, control systems, embedded system engineering, robotics principles, and robot statics and dynamics. Students complete a Design Project that integrates theoretical and practical knowledge, preparing them for professional practice and laying the groundwork for Chartered Engineer status. In the third year, students have the opportunity to specialize in areas such as Mechatronics and Robotics or Control, with example modules including Robot Design and Manufacturing, Robot Motion Planning and Sensor Fusion, Machine Learning and Optimisation, Digital Signal Processing, and Control Systems Design. Optional modules allow further tailoring of the degree to individual interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience using tools such as 3D CAD, 3D printing, and sensor technologies, developing both technical expertise and professional skills. The degree equips graduates to pursue careers in robotics, automation, intelligent systems, and related engineering fields, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, innovative problem-solving capabilities.
