COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management and Modern Languages & Cultures BA combines business studies with language learning, offering students a global perspective on management and cultural understanding. In the first year, students build a foundation in business management through modules such as Introduction to Management, while also selecting a core language from options including French, German, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Catalan, Portuguese, or Czech, alongside modules exploring the history and culture associated with that language. Optional modules in organisational behaviour, business economics, and European studies further enhance understanding of contemporary business and cultural contexts, while a Career Development Planning module supports professional skill development. In the second year, students advance their business knowledge with core modules in Business Strategy, Essentials of Marketing, International Business, and Arts of Persuasion, while continuing language study and optional modules in translation or cultural studies. The third year is spent abroad, providing immersive language and cultural experiences that develop fluency and intercultural competence. In the final year, students focus on international business applications through modules like International Marketing and Internationalisation Strategies, complete a Project in Languages and Cultures, and have the opportunity to select optional modules in areas such as project management, digital marketing, multilingualism, and global careers in languages. This combination equips graduates with both business acumen and language skills, preparing them for careers in international business, management, consultancy, marketing, and culturally diverse professional environments.
