COURSE CURRICULUM

The Politics and Philosophy BA provides a rigorous and interdisciplinary study of political theory, ethics, and philosophical thought. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules such as Political Analysis 1, Western Political Thought, Writing Philosophy, and Ethics and Society. They also choose optional modules in both politics and philosophy, exploring topics such as World Politics, Gender Politics, Mind and World, or Religion, Reason and Reality. The second year deepens understanding of key political and philosophical ideas through modules like Political Analysis 2, Political Theory in Practice, Political Philosophy, and Social Justice. Students also have the opportunity to study specialised topics including migration, Chinese politics, feminism, formal logic, and the philosophy of language, allowing them to connect abstract theory with real-world issues. In the final year, students undertake independent research, developing expertise in an area of their choice while applying advanced critical and analytical skills. They can further specialise through optional modules such as Global Justice, Social Philosophy, Leadership Ethics, and Moral Theory. Across all years, the program encourages critical reasoning, ethical reflection, and intellectual independence, preparing graduates for careers in law, government, public policy, journalism, and academia, or for further philosophical and political study.
