COURSE CURRICULUM

The Philosophy BA is a three-year program designed to develop independent and critical thinkers capable of engaging with complex philosophical questions. In the first year, students build a foundation in the discipline through core modules such as Writing Philosophy, Mind and World, Reason and Argument, and Ethics and Society, while optional modules allow exploration of topics like Religion, Reason and Reality, Bodies, Sex and Desires, Death and Killing, Science, Medicine and Society, and History of Philosophy. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge with core modules including Ethics: From Theory to Practice, Mind and Language, Knowing and Being, and the Global History of Philosophy, alongside optional modules that may cover Formal Logic, Feminism, Philosophy of AI and Robotics, Philosophy of Education, Philosophy of the Arts, Life Worth Living, Religion and the Good Life, and Social and Political Philosophy. The third year focuses on specialization and independent research through a Dissertation Project and modules such as Communicating Philosophy, with optional modules covering advanced topics like Ethics and Belief, Global Justice, Phenomenology, Philosophy of Psychology, Free Will and Religion, Political Resistance, Moral Theory, Ancient Chinese Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, and Utopia, Reform and Democracy. Throughout the degree, students develop analytical, reasoning, and communication skills, cultivating the ability to construct and critique arguments, engage with diverse philosophical traditions, and apply philosophical thinking to contemporary ethical, social, and cultural issues, preparing them for careers in academia, law, policy, and other fields requiring critical thinking and problem-solving.
