COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Management and Economics BA at Sussex provides students with a comprehensive understanding of business operations and economic principles while equipping them with practical and professional skills. In the first year, students build a strong foundation across both disciplines, studying core business management topics such as organisational behaviour and management principles, alongside economics modules in microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis. Students also choose between two mathematical methods modules to develop essential analytical skills, and participate in a career development planning module to enhance their professional self-management. In the second year, the course allows greater flexibility, with core modules covering organisations in society, business strategy, marketing, and statistics, while optional modules enable students to explore topics such as public economics, macroeconomic policy, and economic decision-making, tailoring their degree to personal interests and career goals. The third year focuses on specialisation and applied learning, with core modules like the Final Year Challenge and Economic Policy and Practice providing opportunities to tackle real-world challenges. Students can select optional modules in areas including creativity and innovation, socially responsible marketing, international trade, behavioural economics, environmental economics, and sustainable business practices. The program develops critical thinking, analytical skills, and practical business knowledge, preparing graduates for careers across business, finance, policy, and consultancy, with the ability to integrate economic insight into strategic decision-making.
