COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Financial Management and Economics BA is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of both fields while developing practical and analytical skills. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in accounting, finance, and economics, learning essential concepts such as financial and management accounting, financial management, and macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis and policy. They also develop mathematical skills through modules in mathematical methods for economics, equipping them with the quantitative tools needed for economic and financial analysis. In the second year, students gain more flexibility to tailor their studies, combining core modules such as statistics and econometrics, financial management, and intermediate accounting with optional modules like public economics, the economics of financial institutions, and economic decision-making. This allows students to explore specialist areas of interest while deepening their analytical and technical capabilities. In the third year, students focus on advanced topics and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges through modules such as case studies in accounting and financial management and economic policy and practice. They can further specialise through optional modules in international trade, environmental economics, economic analysis of inequality and poverty, or the economics of race and gender. Across all three years, the course develops critical thinking, problem-solving, and quantitative analysis skills, preparing graduates for careers in accounting, finance, policy, and business, as well as for further study.
