COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Adult Nursing program provides an in-depth foundation in professional nursing practice, combining theoretical learning with extensive clinical experience. In the first year, students are introduced to core aspects of nursing through lectures, seminars, workshops, simulations, and fieldwork. The curriculum focuses on understanding the person behind the patient, exploring how social and environmental factors influence health. Students develop skills in holistic and patient-centred care, health psychology, ethics, digital health, and biosciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Practical skills are strengthened through three practice learning experiences and spoke placements within Greater Manchester, all supervised under NMC standards. In the second year, students consolidate their clinical abilities while advancing their knowledge in leadership, research, teaching, and clinical decision-making. The curriculum includes modules such as Knowledge and Skills for Nursing 1 and 2, Advanced Clinical Decision Making in Professional Practice, Leadership and Management for Innovation and Education, and a major research-based Dissertation in Professional Practice. These components ensure that graduates emerge as reflective, competent, and research-informed practitioners ready to lead in diverse healthcare environments, equipped with the confidence to deliver safe, ethical, and high-quality adult nursing care in line with modern healthcare standards.
