COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Urban Design and International Planning program offers a comprehensive curriculum combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and international exposure to prepare students for careers in urban design and planning. Core modules such as International Urban Design, Urban Design Project, Neighbourhood Planning Project, and International Planning: Systems and Frameworks provide a strong foundation in contemporary urban design principles, planning policies, and global development practices. Students develop applied skills through Urban Design Applied Skills and Urban Design Studio, enabling them to produce detailed design analyses and proposals across multiple scales. The Urban Design and International Planning Study Tour allows students to gain first-hand experience of planning and development challenges in international contexts, enriching their understanding of global urban issues. The program also includes a Dissertation, providing an opportunity to conduct independent research that integrates theoretical concepts with practical design and planning solutions. Optional modules such as the Design Dissertation further allow students to specialise and pursue advanced research in urban design. Through project-based learning, collaborative exercises, and applied research, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills. Overall, the MSc equips graduates with the knowledge, practical experience, and analytical abilities necessary to shape sustainable, well-designed, and equitable urban environments, both locally and internationally.
