COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Social Research Methods and Statistics with Demography program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines advanced quantitative and qualitative methods with specialized training in population studies. Core modules such as Statistical Foundations, Introduction to Statistical Modelling, and Advanced Demographic Analysis provide students with the skills to analyse complex demographic data, including fertility, mortality, migration, and population structure. Methodology and Research Design, along with Qualitative Research Methods and Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods, equip students with robust research skills, ensuring they can design, conduct, and critically evaluate social science research using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The Theory and Method in Demography module provides a deeper understanding of population processes and demographic techniques, while the Dissertation allows students to apply their skills in an independent research project. Optional modules, including Longitudinal Data Analysis and Structural Equation and Latent Variable Modelling, enable students to explore advanced statistical techniques and specialized analytical approaches. Together, these modules prepare graduates to work with complex datasets, conduct rigorous social and demographic research, and develop evidence-based insights. The program equips students with the analytical, methodological, and technical expertise necessary for careers in academia, policy-making, governmental and international organizations, or further doctoral research in social sciences and demography.
