COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Pollution and Environmental Control provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research experience to prepare students for careers in environmental science and pollution management. Core modules such as Measuring and Predicting 1 and 2 introduce students to the quantitative and analytical techniques required to assess environmental conditions and forecast changes. Pollutant Mobility and Transformation examines the behaviour of contaminants in natural and engineered systems, while Human Impacts on the Biosphere explores the effects of human activity on ecosystems. Pollution Management in Practice 1 and 2 focuses on practical strategies for monitoring, controlling, and mitigating pollution, integrating field-based learning with applied problem-solving. The program also includes the Environmental MSc Tutorial, which supports academic development and research skills. A major component of the degree is the Research Project, enabling students to undertake independent, in-depth research and apply their skills to real-world environmental challenges. Optional modules such as Environmental Monitoring and Modelling and Earth and Environmental Data Science allow students to specialise further in data analysis and modelling techniques relevant to contemporary environmental management. By combining rigorous theoretical instruction, practical experience, and research, the program equips graduates with the knowledge, technical expertise, and professional confidence to contribute effectively to environmental consultancy, regulation, industry, and research, or to pursue further academic study in environmental science.
