COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Oncology Research program provides a structured and research-focused curriculum designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical expertise in cancer biology and treatment. Core units such as Understanding the Challenges of Tumour Biology and the Clinical Masterclass equip students with a deep understanding of the mechanisms underlying tumour development, progression, and therapeutic response. The course places strong emphasis on research experience through two extensive projects, Research Project 1 and Research Project 2, where students work under expert supervision to design, conduct, and analyse original cancer research using modern laboratory and analytical techniques. The Tutorial Unit supports academic development by enhancing critical thinking, presentation, and communication skills. Optional modules, including Established and Experimental Therapeutics, Cancer as an Individualised Disease, and The Branches of Oncology, allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests such as personalised medicine or novel therapeutic strategies. The program combines academic rigor with practical application, fostering the ability to evaluate and develop innovative approaches to cancer diagnosis and treatment.
