COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Nature Recovery, Restoration and Rewilding curriculum combines ecological science, social understanding, and practical planning to equip students with the skills needed for real-world environmental restoration and biodiversity enhancement. Core modules such as Environmental Restoration, People and Nature, and Planning for Nature Recovery provide an integrated foundation in the principles and strategies used to conserve and restore ecosystems. Students explore the theory and practice of rewilding through the Rewilding: Principles and Practice unit and develop technical expertise in ecological data collection and interpretation through Methods for Ecological Analysis. The Nature Positive Field Tour offers hands-on experience of restoration projects and conservation initiatives in diverse environments. The dissertation enables students to conduct independent research on a topic of their choice, applying critical and analytical skills to address pressing environmental challenges. Optional modules such as Human Impacts on the Biosphere, Economics of Environmental Policy, and Environmental Remote Sensing allow for further specialisation, bridging the social, economic, and technological dimensions of sustainability. Together, these modules foster a comprehensive understanding of the processes, policies, and practices that underpin nature recovery and rewilding, preparing graduates to pursue impactful careers in conservation, ecological management, environmental consultancy, and sustainability policy.
