COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Model-based Drug Development: Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modelling provides a comprehensive program combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and model-based drug development. Students study essential topics such as basic pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, statistics for health data science, biostatistics, and the design and analysis of clinical trials, which provide the quantitative foundation needed for robust modelling and simulation. The course also includes specialized modules on physiologically based pharmacokinetics (PBPK) and in vitro-in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE), covering both fundamental concepts and advanced applications, enabling students to predict drug behavior and optimize dosage regimens accurately. Data analysis skills are developed through focused modules that apply computational methods to real-world pharmacological data. The program emphasizes research and independent project work, including a supervised dissertation and modules on advanced research topics and project development in modelling and simulation, providing hands-on experience in applying theoretical principles to practical problems. By the end of the course, graduates possess strong computational, analytical, and modelling expertise, equipping them to pursue careers in pharmaceutical research, regulatory science, and translational medicine, or to continue their studies at doctoral level, contributing to innovative and evidence-based drug development strategies.
