COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in International Disaster Management offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with a deep understanding of disaster management theory, research, and application. Core units include the Dissertation, Disaster Management: Theory and Application, Research and Evaluation Methods, and Disaster Politics, which equip students with the skills to critically analyze disasters, assess policies, and evaluate interventions. Optional modules allow further specialization and include topics such as GIS and Disasters: A Critical Introduction, Humanitarianism and Conflict Response, Armed Groups and Humanitarian Aid, Economics, Peace and Conflict, The History of Humanitarian Aid, and Vital Mobilities: Delivering Healthcare in a Changing Climate. This structure ensures that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical analytical skills, fostering the ability to understand complex disaster scenarios, the political and social dimensions of crises, and the mechanisms of humanitarian response.
