COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Health Data Science equips students with advanced skills in statistics, programming, and data analysis applied to healthcare. Core modules provide a solid foundation in statistical methods for health data, statistical modelling and inference, and practical programming skills tailored to health data science. Students also gain an understanding of the principles and applications of health informatics, including decision support systems and clinical bioinformatics. Optional modules allow further specialisation in areas such as medical imaging, mathematical computing for medical imaging, and artificial intelligence for healthcare applications, enabling students to analyse complex datasets and support clinical decision-making. The dissertation component provides the opportunity to engage in a substantial, research-focused project, often involving real-world healthcare datasets or collaborations with external organisations, allowing students to apply their skills to practical problems. This combination of theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and applied research prepares graduates for careers in health data science, healthcare analytics, digital health, and clinical research, as well as for further doctoral study. By the end of the program, students develop the analytical, computational, and professional skills necessary to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams addressing contemporary challenges in healthcare delivery, data-driven medical research, and the implementation of innovative health technologies.
