COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Development (Politics, Governance and Development Policy) provides students with a thorough understanding of how political processes, governance structures, and policy decisions shape development outcomes. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to analyse complex development challenges, particularly in the global South, where governance dynamics significantly influence social, economic, and political progress. Core modules such as The Politics and Governance of Development, Development Fundamentals, Development Fieldwork, Political Analysis of Development Policy, Global Development Challenges, Development Research, and the Dissertation equip students with the tools to conduct in-depth research, critically evaluate policies, and develop evidence-based recommendations. Optional modules, including Global Political Economy, Public Sector Reform and Management, and Poverty and Development, allow students to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest, enhancing expertise in economic, institutional, and social aspects of development. The program emphasizes both conceptual understanding and applied learning through fieldwork and policy analysis, preparing students to engage with real-world development challenges.
