COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Development (Migration, Mobility and Displacement) equips students with the knowledge and skills to analyse the complex interplay between human movement and development processes. The program combines theoretical, practical, and research-based approaches to understand how migration, mobility, and displacement shape social, economic, and political outcomes worldwide. Core modules, including Development Fundamentals, Development Fieldwork, Global Development Challenges, Migration, Mobility and Displacement in the Contemporary World, Migration and Development, Development Research, and a dissertation, provide a strong foundation in development theory, applied research, and fieldwork methods. Students engage with contemporary debates on migration policy, humanitarian response, and international development, developing the ability to critically assess policies and interventions. Optional modules, such as Conceptualising the Camp, Global Political Economy, and Poverty and Development, allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests and gain specialised expertise. Through a combination of practical, analytical, and research-focused training, students build competencies to evaluate and implement strategies that address migration and displacement challenges in diverse contexts. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in international development organisations, government agencies, humanitarian bodies, research institutions, and consultancy, and they acquire the analytical, policy, and research skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to global development and migration-related initiatives.
