COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Development (Globalisation, Trade and Industry) equips students with the knowledge and skills to critically examine industrial development strategies, international trade policies, and their implications for economic and social development. The program combines theoretical frameworks with practical applications, ensuring students gain a holistic understanding of global development processes. Core modules include Industrial Competitiveness and Global Transformation, Globalisation, Trade and Development, Development Fundamentals, Development Fieldwork, and Global Development Challenges, providing a comprehensive foundation in development theory and practice. Students also engage in a dissertation and development research project, enabling them to conduct in-depth, independent investigations into specific issues related to global trade, industrial policy, or economic transformation. Optional modules such as Global Political Economy, Poverty and Development, and Gender Inequality: Theory and Evidence allow for further specialisation, helping students tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. The program emphasises practical engagement through exposure to policy actors, industry practitioners, and field-based learning, offering insights into real-world development challenges and interventions. Graduates of the program develop the analytical, research, and problem-solving skills necessary to pursue careers in international development agencies, government policy units, consultancy, trade organisations, and research institutions, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to shaping strategies and policies in a globalised economy.
