COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Development (Environment and Climate Change) provides students with the expertise and practical skills necessary to address the complex interactions between environmental challenges, climate change, and development. The program combines core training in development fundamentals, development fieldwork, climate change and development, and global development challenges with advanced modules exploring key issues in environment and development. Students engage in rigorous research through the dissertation and development research units, allowing them to investigate real-world problems and develop evidence-based solutions. Optional modules, such as economics of environmental policy, issues in environmental policy, and global political economy, enable students to tailor their learning to specific interests and deepen their understanding of policy, governance, and economic aspects of sustainable development. The course emphasizes critical thinking and practical problem-solving, preparing students to analyze and respond to the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of climate change and sustainable development interventions. By combining theoretical knowledge with applied research, the program equips graduates with the skills needed for careers in international development organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies, consultancy, and policy research. Students leave prepared to contribute effectively to the design, implementation, and evaluation of development strategies that promote climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and social equity globally.
