COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Economics program provides students with advanced training in modern economic theory, quantitative methods, and applied research, preparing them for careers in policy, finance, research, and academia. Core modules such as Mathematical Methods in Economic Analysis, Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Introduction to Quantitative Methods in Economics, and Econometric Methods equip students with a strong foundation in analytical techniques, economic modelling, and data-driven decision-making. The Dissertation allows students to conduct an extended independent research project, applying theoretical concepts and quantitative methods to a specific economic question or policy issue. Optional modules, including Development Microeconomics, Microeconometrics, Macroeconomic Theory and Policy, and International Macroeconomics, enable students to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest, such as economic development, advanced econometric techniques, policy analysis, and global macroeconomic dynamics. The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical application of economic theory, providing students with the skills to interpret complex data, evaluate policy outcomes, and deliver evidence-based recommendations. Graduates leave equipped with rigorous theoretical knowledge, strong quantitative and analytical skills, and research experience, making them well-prepared for roles in government, international organisations, consultancy, finance, and research institutions, or for further academic study at the doctoral level, with the ability to address contemporary economic challenges effectively.
