COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Developmental Biology and Stem Cells (Research) program offers a rigorous, research-focused curriculum designed to equip students with the practical and analytical skills necessary for careers in developmental biology and stem cell research. Core modules such as Laboratory Skills and the Masterclass in Experimental Development Biology provide foundational expertise in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and hands-on investigation of developmental processes. The Tutorial Unit – Reproduction & Development Tutorials enhances understanding of key theoretical concepts, reinforcing knowledge gained through practical work. Central to the program are Research Project 1 and Research Project 2, which allow students to undertake extended, supervised investigations, applying advanced methodologies to explore questions in cell and developmental biology and contributing to public-domain research outputs. Research Methods further develops critical skills in experimental planning, data analysis, and scientific communication, ensuring students can effectively design and interpret complex studies. Optional modules, including the Reproduction and Pregnancy Masterclass, provide opportunities to specialise in areas of reproductive biology, enhancing knowledge of developmental mechanisms and translational applications.
