COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Cyber Security program provides an in-depth understanding of the principles, technologies, and practices required to secure modern digital systems. Core modules such as Introduction to Cryptography, Network Security, Secure Computer Architecture and Systems, and Security and Privacy in Artificial Intelligence develop students’ technical expertise in protecting data, networks, and software from cyber threats. Formal Methods for Software Verification, Security and Computer Science and Software Security further enhance skills in designing, analysing, and verifying secure systems, ensuring reliability and resilience in critical applications. The Masters Project, a 60-credit module, enables students to undertake a substantial research or practical project, applying theoretical knowledge to solve real-world security challenges under expert supervision. Optional modules, including Data Engineering Concepts, Data Engineering Technologies, and Reasoning and Learning under Uncertainty, allow students to broaden their expertise by integrating data analysis, artificial intelligence, and probabilistic reasoning into their understanding of cyber security. Through this combination of rigorous technical training, research-led learning, and practical application, graduates develop the analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills necessary for careers in cyber security roles across industry, government, and research organisations. The program prepares students to design and implement secure systems, respond effectively to emerging threats, and contribute to the development of trustworthy technology in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
