COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes Health and Social Care equips students with advanced research skills and expertise necessary for conducting high-quality research in health and social care settings. The program includes a strong focus on both theoretical and practical aspects of research, covering critical areas such as research design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, statistics, and evidence synthesis. Core modules develop students’ ability to critically appraise research, manage projects, and analyse data rigorously, ensuring that graduates are capable of producing robust, evidence-based insights. Central to the course is the MResearch Dissertation, which allows students to apply their learning to an independent research project, integrating methodological knowledge and practical skills in a real-world context. Students also gain experience in managing research processes, understanding ethical considerations, and navigating the complexities of applied health and social care research. By combining distance learning flexibility with opportunities for interaction and collaboration, the program prepares students to address contemporary challenges in the health and social care sector. Graduates leave with the knowledge, analytical skills, and confidence to pursue careers in research, policy, and practice, or to continue to doctoral-level study, contributing to the development, evaluation, and improvement of health and social care services locally, nationally, and internationally.
