COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology program provides advanced training in the scientific study of the brain and behavior, equipping students with the knowledge and technical skills required for research careers in academia or industry. The course focuses on understanding the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying human thought, emotion, and behavior, combining theoretical insight with hands-on research experience. Students receive in-depth instruction in critical thinking, experimental design, and data analysis, enabling them to evaluate and conduct high-quality psychological and neuroscientific research. A major component of the program is the independent research project, which allows students to explore a topic of personal interest under the guidance of experienced academics specializing in experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, and neuropsychology. Through this, students gain practical experience in using advanced research methods and technologies, including access to specialist laboratories and equipment such as EEG, brain imaging, and behavioral testing tools. The program is designed to develop both scientific expertise and transferable skills, preparing graduates for doctoral research, academic careers, or roles in industries that rely on cognitive and neuropsychological insight, such as healthcare, education, and technology.
