COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Library and Archive Studies program combines theoretical understanding with practical application to prepare students for professional roles in libraries, archives, and related information sectors. Core units provide essential training in key areas, including records and information management practice, strategic practice in libraries, and archives and special collections, allowing students to develop expertise in organizing, preserving, and managing information resources. The program also emphasizes research skills through a dissertation, enabling students to undertake an in-depth study in a specialized area of interest. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific career goals and interests, covering topics such as the art of medieval manuscripts, curating art, law, information governance and compliance, intangible cultural heritage, and business strategies for the arts, culture, and creative industries.
