COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA International Education (TESOL) program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical expertise needed for careers in teaching English to speakers of other languages and in international education contexts. The course combines rigorous academic study with professional learning, allowing students to critically engage with contemporary issues in language education, curriculum design, and teaching practice. Core modules cover engaging with education research, educational research methods and design, and theories of teaching and learning, providing a strong foundation in both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. Students gain specialized knowledge in approaches and methods in TESOL, as well as concepts and practices of international education, enabling them to understand and apply effective teaching strategies across diverse linguistic and cultural settings. The dissertation allows students to undertake independent research, developing skills in research design, data collection, analysis, and scholarly communication. Optional modules in digital media, blended learning, digital literacy for language teaching, and psychology of language learning provide opportunities for further specialization and practical skill development. Delivered in a highly international and collaborative environment, the course fosters cross-cultural understanding, critical thinking, and the ability to implement evidence-based approaches in language education. Graduates are prepared for roles in TESOL instruction, curriculum development, teacher training, and international educational policy.
