COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Digital Media, Culture and Society program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of digital technologies in shaping culture, society, and individual experience. Core modules such as Introduction to Digital Media and Digital Methods develop foundational knowledge in digital media theory, research methodologies, and critical analysis, while the Dissertation allows students to undertake an in-depth, independent research project that applies these skills to a specific area of interest. Optional modules, including Digital Art, Digital Platforms, Politics and Policy, The Digital Self: Living in Networked Times, Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, and Society, and Data in Culture and Society, enable students to specialise in topics such as creative digital practices, the societal impact of platforms and AI, identity in networked environments, and the use of data in cultural contexts. Additional options, such as Art Markets and Placement, offer opportunities to gain practical experience and industry exposure. The program integrates theoretical learning with applied skills, fostering critical thinking, cultural literacy, and technical competence.
