COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Pharmacology degree provides students with a thorough understanding of how drugs interact with biological systems, preparing them for careers in pharmaceutical research, healthcare, and related fields. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in the life sciences through modules in biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, and human biology, alongside essential laboratory skills, neuroscience fundamentals, and an introduction to pharmacology. Writing, referencing, and communication skills are also developed to support academic success. In the second year, students progress to more specialized pharmacology topics, including clinical drug development, neuropharmacology, endocrine systems, and the molecular basis of disease, while continuing to enhance laboratory competence, scientific analysis, and professional communication. Optional modules in immunology allow further specialization. The second year also offers an opportunity for a semester abroad, providing international experience and exposure to diverse scientific approaches. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through advanced modules such as neuropharmacology of human health, toxins and toxicology, and membrane transport and signaling in health and disease. Practical skills are further developed through research projects, enterprise projects, and applied pharmacology exercises, enabling students to design experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings effectively. The program equips graduates with strong analytical, experimental, and critical thinking skills, supporting employment or further postgraduate study.
