COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Immunology program offers a detailed understanding of how the immune system functions in health and disease through a combination of theoretical learning, laboratory experience, and research training. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in biological sciences through core modules such as biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology, alongside laboratory-based courses that develop essential experimental and analytical skills. Year 2 focuses more specifically on immunology, covering areas such as infectious diseases, immunological mechanisms, virology, and the molecular and cellular basis of human disease. Students also develop skills in science communication and data interpretation through academic tutorials and research skills modules. In the final year, students explore advanced immunological concepts and the immune system’s role in disease and therapy. Core modules include Advanced Immunology and Immune Response and Disease, while optional projects offer research experience in laboratory science, enterprise, science communication, or post-genome biology. Additional options such as glycobiology and biochemical disease mechanisms allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests. Across all years, the program emphasizes research-led teaching, practical training, and scientific inquiry, preparing graduates for careers in biomedical research, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or further academic study in immunology and related disciplines.
