COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) program provides a structured combination of theoretical study and clinical practice to prepare students for professional audiology careers. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge in health sciences, anatomy and physiology, psychology, and audiological science, alongside introductory training in audiology and clinical practice through placements and skills labs. Year 2 builds on this foundation with advanced study in auditory physiology and perception, research methods, and statistics. Students also explore leadership in healthcare and gain practical experience in adult audiological assessment, hearing aid management, and clinical placements. By Year 3, the focus shifts to specialist and advanced topics such as tinnitus, vestibular pathology, paediatric audiology, and advanced hearing instrument technologies. Students further develop counselling and communication skills crucial for patient-centered care and undertake a research project that integrates academic learning with professional practice. Throughout the program, clinical placements at the NHS and other healthcare settings ensure hands-on experience in real-world environments. This comprehensive training equips graduates with scientific expertise, technical proficiency, and interpersonal skills necessary to diagnose and manage hearing and balance disorders, leading to eligibility for professional registration and successful careers in audiology and hearing healthcare.
