COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Genetics program offers a detailed and structured approach to understanding the principles and applications of genetics within the broader context of biological sciences. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through modules covering biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular processes, biodiversity, and genes, evolution, and development, alongside practical skills in laboratory science and experimental biology. Essential training in writing, referencing, and health and safety ensures students are prepared for both academic and professional environments. The second year consolidates these core principles while providing continued guidance through academic tutorials and advanced molecular and cellular biology, allowing students to deepen their understanding of biological systems and genetic mechanisms. In the final year, students focus on specialized areas such as genetics research methods, genome maintenance and regulation, omic technologies, organismal genetics, and evolutionary biology. Optional modules allow exploration of protein biology and cellular dynamics, while science communication skills are emphasized to prepare students for professional or research-based careers.
