COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Environmental Science program provides a comprehensive exploration of Earth's systems, human impacts, and strategies for sustainable management. In the first year, students gain a broad foundation through modules that introduce Earth processes, scientific tools, and practical and professional skills, preparing them for advanced study and research. In the second year, students tailor their learning to a specific pathway of interest. Those following the Pollution and Environmental Processes pathway focus on climate change, biodiversity, pollution management, and urbanization, examining solutions to global environmental challenges. The Atmospheric and Climate Science pathway emphasizes understanding the atmosphere, air quality, pollutant transport, and climate dynamics, linking scientific knowledge to societal issues. The Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology pathway explores the interactions between organisms and their environments, the history of life, and conservation strategies. In the third year, students have the flexibility to select from a range of advanced modules within their chosen pathway, units from other Environmental Science or Earth and Planetary Science courses, or interdisciplinary options such as Leadership in Action, which combines study with volunteering and personal development. The final year culminates in a research project where students design experiments, collect field and laboratory data, and apply analytical techniques to address a scientific question, equipping them with practical skills and a strong foundation for careers in research, consultancy, conservation, or environmental management.
