COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics program provides students with a rigorous foundation in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and applied economic skills, preparing them for a range of careers in finance, business, policy, and research. In the first year, students study the fundamentals of microeconomics and macroeconomics, principles of mathematical and statistical analysis, and applied economics, developing the analytical tools needed to interpret economic data and understand market behaviour. Optional units such as financial decision making allow for early exposure to practical applications. The second year builds on this foundation with intermediate microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, econometrics, and mathematical economics, alongside optional courses in finance, investment analysis, and environmental economics, giving students both theoretical depth and applied expertise. In the final year, students have the opportunity to specialise in advanced topics such as international finance, financial derivatives, advanced corporate finance, financial engineering, financial market microstructure, and applied investing. They can also study advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics, and topics in inequality and poverty, enhancing their ability to analyse complex economic problems. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills and quantitative techniques, equipping students to critically assess economic issues, make informed decisions, and pursue successful careers in economics, finance, business, and policymaking, or continue with graduate study.
